M+ Breakout Space / Learning and Interpretation Space

Breakout Space are series of rooms and areas located across the M+ Museum of visual art. Each space is curated to fit within theme of the gallery narratives, the spaces invite interaction by asking (relevant) questions in response to the context of the gallery themes and will evolve as the content develops. With diverse range of the museum’s collections interpreting visual art, design, architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, Breakout Space activities includes drawings of curated postcards, composing poems a wall, making video response of oneself in response to video recordings by the artists, interacting with specifically commissioned sound art installation and model making.

Since working with M+ on the Mobile M+ Moving Images (2015) and the West Kowloon Cultural District’s 'Cultural Hong Kong' exhibition (2017), SKY YUTAKA continued to collaborate in 2019 to develop the four breakout spaces located across the Museum Galleries as well as working at the gallery’s Learning and Interpretation Space for the M+ Community pilot project exhibiting works by Hong Kong artist Pak Sheung-chuen, a socially driven initiative which explores the possibilities of social service through creative practices.
