Breathing with Trees
Breathing with Trees exhibition at the Tai Kwun combines research and contemporary art promoting environmental education as part of the summer exhibition program. The exhibition interior is designed to complement the architectural heritage of former police headquarters building with weathered brick arch openings, dark hardwood timber fixtures and iron metal gates that define the characteristic of the Duplex Studio where the exhibition is situated.
Responding to the exhibition theme, material selection of the exhibition installation focuses on the timber grains of the various interior surfaces which are stained in 5 different colour tones to represent distinctive zoning of the exhibition narrative. Series of display furniture were designed also using the same timber materials and lighting design that accentuate the atmosphere while high-lighting the artworks. To cater for graphic represnetations developed by the graphic designer HATO, bespoke paper hanging system were developed in collaboration.
