Plywood Bench for M+
A family of bespoke benches were designed for the Museum’s Breakout Spaces, Learning and Interpolation Spaces. Anticipating need for flexibility, 4 types of benches can be combined and re-configured as layout of the space changes to accommodate diverse range of activities catered for educational workshop and community projects.
Making use of CNC milling fabrication process, each bench is constructed from 2 types of standard sized plywood panels with robust detailing catered for heavy use in the Museum setting. Considering ease of use and lightness, they can be combined with optional upholstery cushion attachment. Benches can be also stacked to save space during the storage.

Location: M+ Museum, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong SAR / Scope: Prototyping, bespoke joinery system and furniture / Year: 2019-2021
