Kennedy Town Footbridge

Project Details
The footbridge serves as a pedestrian link across a steep incline, connecting the lower area adjacent to the harbour with the upper area, which has been designated for the forthcoming large-scale public housing project. Upon the completion of the housing development, the bridge will constitute the primary access route.
The bridge design accommodates various elevation changes through the utilisation of two lift towers and an elevated walkway. This design incorporates vertical greenery to harmonise with the surrounding environment while preserving the accessibility of adjacent neighbouring properties.
To meet the stringent requirements of the Highway Department, the bridge design incorporates straightforward and robust detailing, prioritising the passenger’s spatial experience. This includes a vantage point at the upper lift lobby, offering panoramic views across the Victoria Harbour. Skylights have been integrated, and expansive climber plants have been incorporated to provide shade and infuse the infrastructure with vibrant colours and a distinct floral aroma, despite its highly functional nature.
