Project Details

This distinctive project emerged from collaboration over number of years with researcher/curator Michelle Wong and AAA, which assumed custodianship of the archive materials and documentation left in the late Hong Kong artist Ha Bik Chuen’s studio space in To Kwa Wan. Their commitment to digitising these materials and making them accessible to the public has fostered new perspectives and interpretations of art history in Asia.

Between 2015 and 2021, SKY YUTAKA engaged in a series of projects, including the design of two exhibitions for AAA. We provided logistical support and assisted in relocating the archive materials. Additionally, we designed and constructed a dedicated archive facility in Fo Tan.

In late 2020, we commenced work on the second exhibition titled “Portals, Journeys and other Stories,” which reflected on the over six years of the archive process. The exhibition, conceived as a series of acts, comprises ten sets that re-stage documents and historical objects in novel contexts. It features commissioned works by Kwan Sheung Chi, Lam Wing Sze, Raqs Media Collective, and Walid Raad.
